Public Water Supply and Sewage Program

The Environmental Health public water supply division is responsible for the oversight of approximately 155 public water supplies in Oneida County. This includes Community, Transient Non-Community and Non-Transient Non-Community Public Water Supplies. Public water systems serve approximately 2/3 of Oneida County residents. Our goal is to ensure the public is protected from waterborne disease and contamination. The program provides technical assistance to individual drinking water well owners.

The Environmental Health sewage program consists of approving sewage treatment systems at permitted facilities as well as approving alternative sewage treatment technologies for individual residences. The program provides technical assistance to local municipalities and engineers in Oneida County for designing and approving sewage treatment systems as well as responding to sewage exposure complaints.
