Overview

Oneida County Senior Nutrition Program offers home-delivered meals, congregate dining, and nutrition counseling.  Both Home Delivered Meal and Congregate Meal programs provide delicious, well-balanced meals which provide 1/3 the Recommended Daily Allowances for adults as established by the American Dietetic Association.

Home Delivered Meals

This program targets frail, homebound individuals, age 60 and older, and is available at a suggested donation of $2.75 per meal. Donations are voluntary and confidential, and no one will be denied a meal for their inability to contribute. All home delivered meals are frozen and all are delivered on one day per week and the client must be home to get them.   Weekend meals are provided for those who are considered to be nutritionally at risk.  Shelf Stable meals are provided in advance for the winter if meals cannot be delivered due to the weather.

Delivery of meals also serves as a monitoring system to check on each person's wellbeing. No meal is left without either visual or verbal confirmation the client is alright.   In the event that a client is found unwell, in an emergency situation, or not home when expected to be there the  meals the driver will report back to their supervisor who will notify the Office for the Aging for follow-up and necessary action.
