2024 Utica University Men’s Basketball Clinic
On Sunday, December 15th the Oneida County Youth Bureau in partnership with the Utica University Pioneer Men’s Basketball program and Accelerate Sports Complex offered a FREE clinic for youth ages 8-17. In year seven of this partnership, we served over 100 youth while providing the kids a first-class facility and enthusiastic environment to have fun and learn. Over the course of our 7-year partnership the Utica Men’s Basketball program have given back, through volunteerism, to over 925 Oneida County youth!
Head Basketball Coach Sean Coffey stated, “opportunities like this clinic for our Utica University student-athletes are exactly what we strive to do for our community.” Coach Coffey added, “It was an awesome day to give back to the city on our chest, Utica.”
Participants were instructed on playing defense and movement, shooting technique, ball handling skills and much more! All along, the Pioneer players brought energy and genuine excitement to the youth participants while teaching and demonstrating basketball skills.
At the conclusion of the clinic the kids received a certificate of completion and were treated to autographs from the players. This event was once again a huge success and we would like to thank Coach Sean Coffey, his players, Accelerate Sports Complex, and Utica University Athletic Director Dave Fontaine for this very positive and inspiring opportunity for Oneida County’s youth!
