2012 Baseball Classic
2012 Stop DWI High School Baseball Classic
The Oneida County Youth Bureau in collaboration with Oneida County STOP DWI will be hosting the inaugural 2012 STOP DWI High School Baseball Classic Friday April 20th and Saturday April 21st at Murnane Field in Utica. Games will be played both days and feature (10) area teams from all of New York state’s high school classes; AA, A, B, C and D. The Classic will be used as a springboard to our annual Teen Traffic Safety Education Program that is presented to Oneida County high school students the last week of April and the first week of May, just before ball and prom season. This Classic will give us the ability to expand our mission; making youth aware of the consequences that result from making destructive decisions, by reaching families (elementary school-aged children, college students, young adults, etc.) and other youth where our Teen Traffic Safety Education Program isn’t presented.
Educational presentations will be given by the New York State Police, the New York State Department of Transportation, Insight House and Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES-Core. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Department will be finger printing children and taking their picture for SAFE CHILD identification cards. Other educational materials will be available from Oneida County STOP DWI, the New York State Department of Health, AAA New York and Derek Jeter’s “Turn 2” Foundation.
All the games will be broadcast on ESPN Radio; 1310 AM, 1350 AM and 1230 AM. A correspondence with area Little League and Ripken League presidents has been made and flyers will distributed to the area Little Leagues and Ripken Leagues. ADMISSION TO ALL THE GAMES IS FREE!
The hope is to make this an annual event rotating the Classic from Murnane Field (Utica) to DeLutis Field (Rome) every other year.

Camden versus RFA 7:00 PM start
Saturday April 21st:
Notre Dame versus Sauquoit 11:00 AM start
Proctor versus Whitesboro 2:00 PM start
New York Mills versus Herkimer 5:00 PM start
