2015 STOP DWI High School Baseball Classic
The 4th Annual STOP DWI High School Baseball Classic hosted by the Oneida County Youth Bureau and the Oneida County STOP DWI will be held Friday May 1st and Saturday May 2nd at DeLutis Field in Rome. The Classic will run in conjunction with STOP DWI’S Annual Teen Traffic Safety Education Program. The Teen Traffic Safety Education Program is presented to Oneida County high school students annually, prior to the ball, prom and graduation season. The Classic, an educational event, gives us the ability to expand our mission; to educate youth and families about the terrible consequences that result when people make destructive decisions.
The previous three Classics were attended by 4,300 people. Last year the attendees and the players and coaches from the participating teams took advantage of the outstanding presentations that were given by our partners; the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County Health Department, Oneida County STOP DWI, the New York State Police, the New York State Department of Transportation, Insight House, Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES-CORE, the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the New Hartford High School Project Purple.
Literature from Derek Jeter’s “Turn 2” Foundation and AAA New York was also provided.
Admission to the Classic is free and every adult will receive a bag filled with educational materials to be shared at home with their family. The Classic will feature ten (10) Oneida County high school varsity baseball teams representing all of New York State’s high school classes; AA, A, B, C and D.
We’d like to extend a special thank you to our sponsors, who, without their commitment this event would not be possible; Preferred Mutual, Cooperstown Bat Company, Don’s Ford Superstore, Excellus, Spano’s Bakery, Adjusters International Basloe, Levin & Cuccaro, First Source Federal Credit Union, Foot Doctors, IBEW, Mohawk Valley Community College, Northern Safety, Coca-Cola and Tents Plus Party Rentals.
