2016 Utica College Men's Basketball Clinic
The Oneida County Youth Bureau in partnership with the Utica College Men’s Basketball program recently completed a FREE basketball clinic offered for youth ages 8-17 at the Clark Athletic Center. This first year endeavor between the two organizations reached 155 participants, both boys and girls, giving the kids a safe and enthusiastic environment to have fun and learn. The clinic was intended to teach youth about the fundamentals of basketball while interacting with other peers of various skill levels and backgrounds.
The Utica College Men’s coaching staff and players took some time after their morning practice to give back to our youth. Head Coach Sean Coffey stated, “opportunities like this clinic for our young student-athletes are exactly what we will strive to do for our community.” Participants were drilled on defensive positioning and movement, shooting technique, ball handling skills and so much more! All along the UC players were instructing each group of children with energy and genuine excitement.
At the conclusion of the clinic youth were treated to an autograph session from the UC players and coaching staff. This event was a huge success and we would like to thank Coach Sean Coffey, Asst. Coach Dave Wadas, their players and Utica College Athletic Director Dave Fontaine for hosting this very positive and inspiring opportunity for our Oneida County youth!
