2019 Utica College Men's Basketball Clinic
On Sunday, December 8th from 2-4 p.m. the Oneida County Youth Bureau in partnership with the Utica College Men’s Basketball program offered a FREE clinic for youth ages 8-17 in the Todd & Jen Hutton Recreation Center. This fourth year endeavor reached over 100 participants, both boys and girls, giving the kids a first class facility and enthusiastic environment to have fun and learn. Over a 4 year span of this partnership the Utica College Men’s Basketball program have given back, through volunteerism, to over 500 Oneida County youth!
Head Basketball Coach Sean Coffey stated, “opportunities like this clinic for our Utica College student-athletes are exactly what we strive to do for our community.” Coach Coffey added, “It was an awesome day to give back to the city on our chest, Utica.”
Participants were drilled on playing defense and movement, shooting technique, ball handling skills and much more! All along, the UC players were instructing each age group with energy and genuine excitement.
At the conclusion of the clinic youth received a certificate of completion and were treated to an autograph session from the UC Men’s Basketball team. This event, once again was a huge success and we would like to thank Coach Sean Coffey, his players and Utica College Athletic Director Dave Fontaine for hosting this very positive and inspiring opportunity for Oneida County’s youth!
