15th Annual Oneida County Sidewalk Art Contest Chalks Up Masterpieces

Over 100 youth participated in the 15^th Annual Oneida County Youth Bureau Sidewalk Art Contest on July 17th, creating masterpieces out of chalk on the grounds of Munson.

A total of 106 youth competed in the age categories of 5-7 years-old, 8-10 years-old and 11-13 years-old (there were no entrants into the 14-18 year-old group this year).Where applicable, medals were presented to the top three finishers in each age category. The chalk used was donated by Walmart and Target and Munson provided a pair of sunglasses to all youth participants at the Sidewalk Art event.

“The Sidewalk Art Contest is a perfect example of how Oneida County invests in the creativity and well-being of our youth,” said Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. “Each year, this event brings our community together in a vibrant celebration of imagination, talent and collaboration. Through our Youth Bureau and Munson, we are able to provide a meaningful experience that help our young people shine.”

“The kids artistic abilities and positive self-expressions were beautifully designed for all to be amazed,” said Oneida County Youth Bureau Director Kevin Green. “The kids decorated the sidewalk with pride, a lot of creative thought, and their energy was refreshing. This event would not be possible without the support of our fantastic partners; Munson, Walmart and Target. Our partners give the youth of Oneida County an opportunity to experience one of the crown jewels in Oneida County."
