2024 Oneida County Budget Approved
Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr.’s 2024 budget and capital plan were approved by the Board of Legislators today.
The $529 million balanced budget features no increase in the property tax levy for the eleventh year in a row.
“I thank the Board of Legislators for voting to adopt my proposal with minimal adjustments and for continuing Oneida County on the right path,” Picente said. “I’m proud of this budget and I’m proud of the work we have done together. This budget is the best plan forward for this county based on a record rooted in integrity, compassion and competence, keeping all our people’s best interests at heart.”
The 2024 budget appropriates $142 million in sales tax revenue, $23 million in Oneida Indian Nation revenue and retires $19 million in debt. The capital budget will bond for $15 million.
The 2024 budget invests in several areas including agriculture, education and technology:
- $6.5 million to expand Cornell Cooperative Extension’s facility footprint.
- $2 million for roof repair to the Mohawk Valley Community College Academic Building.
- $1 million for technology upgrades for County government.
