3rd Annual Oneida County STOP-DWI Baseball & Softball Classic Hits Another Home Run
The 3rd Annual STOP DWI High School Baseball and Softball Classic took place May 16th and 17th at Hamilton College. The goal of the Classic is to expand our mission of making more youth aware of the terrible consequences that result when people make destructive decisions.
The free two-day event was attended by 1,500 people. Those attendees along with the 16 participating teams’ players and coaches took advantage of the outstanding educational presentations by County partners.
The New York State Department of Transportation gave presentations on pedestrian driving safety and work zone safety; New York State Police used their seatbelt convincer and presented on all aspects of wearing a seat belt properly; Oneida County Sheriff’s Office presented on the dangers of distracted driving; Oneida County Health Department food provided information on tick bites and treatment; Oneida County Mental Health presented on suicide prevention and general mental health and the Center for Family Life and Recovery presented the dangers of drug use and the opioid crisis.
