One hundred and thirty-five children participated in the Eighth Annual Oneida County Youth Bureau Baseball Skills Clinic with the Utica Blue Sox on July 11th at the newly-renovated Murnane Field at Donovan Stadium in Utica.

The weather was picture perfect for the youth of Oneida County to participate and attend this free one day event. The Skills Clinic, presented by the Utica Blue Sox players and coaching staff, was open to all county youth aged 9-12 years-old.

Participants were also given a free ticket to the Blue Sox game later that evening and were invited on to the field during player introductions.

“Providing opportunities like this clinic not only promotes physical activity and teamwork, but also builds memories and confidence that will last a lifetime,” said Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. “Thanks to the partnership with the Utica Blue Sox and the continued improvements at Donovan Stadium, Oneida County’s young athletes had a first-class experience that truly showcases the pride we take in investing in our youth.”

“The renovations made to this historic ballpark make Donovan Stadium a true attraction for all visitors and for all our youth participants,” said Oneida County Youth Bureau Director Kevin Green. "The collaboration effort from the Utica Blue Sox organization from Owner George Deak on down, remains first class from start to finish. Our youth, both boys and girls represented from all across Oneida County were treated to an enthusiastic foundation of baseball knowledge.”
