Oneida County Board of Elections Announces Key Information for the 2024 General Election
The Oneida County Board of Elections reminds voters of important deadlines and updates as we approach the General Election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
Sample Ballots: Voters can view sample ballots by visiting the Oneida County Board of Elections website at ocgovboe.net/whats-on-the-ballot/.
Voter Registration Deadline: The deadline to register to vote in time for the election is October 26, 2024. Applications must be received by this date. Voters can confirm their voter registration status, update their voter registration, or register to vote by going to: ocgovboe.net/registration/.
Voting by Mail Deadlines: The deadline to request a ballot by mail is October 26, 2024. Voters who need a ballot mailed to them are encouraged to request a ballot as soon as possible to participate in the election. Voters can also apply for an early mail or absentee ballot in-person at the Board of Elections office until November 4, 2024. Information on voting by mail and applying for a mail ballot can be found at: ocgovboe.net/vote-by-mail/.
Once the Board of Elections receives the application, a ballot will be mailed to the voter with a return envelope. Voters have two options to return it for the election:
- Mail back the ballot so it is postmarked on or before Election Day, November 5, 2024, and received by the Board of Elections within seven (7) days after the election. Ballots from military and overseas voters must be postmarked on or before Election Day and received within thirteen (13) days after the election.
- Deliver it in person to the Board of Elections, any early voting site in Oneida County, or an election day poll site in Oneida County by close of polls on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
Early Voting: Early voting for the election will begin on Saturday, October 26, 2024, and will run through Sunday, November 3, 2024. Eligible Oneida County voters can cast their ballots early at the following locations:
- Mohawk Valley Community College, Alumni College Center Room 116
- Address: 1101 Sherman Drive, Utica, NY 13501
- **Please Note: Voters with disabilities or mobility issues can utilize the Voter Drive-Thru to drive up to the Alumni College Center entrance and shorten their walk into the site.
- New Hartford Town Hall
- Address: 8635 Clinton Street, New Hartford, NY 13413
- South Rome Senior Center
- Address: 112 Ridge Street, Rome, NY 13440
- Whitestown Town Hall
- Address: 8539 Clark Mills Road, Whitesboro, NY 13492
All early voting locations will be open during the following hours:
- Saturdays & Sundays: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Tuesday & Thursday: 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The Oneida County Board of Elections office, located on the 3rd Floor of Union Station, 321 Main St, Utica, NY, will be open during normal business hours and all voting hours on each day of early voting.
Election Day: Election Day is set for November 5, 2024. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Voters can confirm their registration and Election Day poll site by visiting: www.ocgovboe.net/registration/.
Board of Elections Activity: The Oneida County Board of Elections has been diligently working to ensure compliance with all election law and a smooth election process. Since September 1, 2024, the Board has:
- Processed over 2,400 new voter registrations for first-time registrants in Oneida County
- Processed over 8,000 voter registration forms and change of address requests
- Handled and issued more than 11,000 absentee and early vote-by-mail requests, including over 5,500 applications received since September 1
Registration forms, change of address requests and vote by mail applications are being received and processed daily and voters are encouraged to submit any forms as soon as possible for processing.
Election Night Reporting: As of October 22, 2024, the Board has already received more than 4,700 mail ballots from voters which have been canvassed. All mail ballots received before Election Day will be counted and included in the initial election night tally at 9:00 p.m. along with all early voting results. Election night results will begin to be uploaded soon after that and totals will be updated daily with any mail ballots timely received.
