Oneida County Government Using New Vaccine Doses for Seniors, First Responders
500 Doses to be Distributed Between MVCC and Griffiss on Jan. 28
Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced today that county government has received 500 doses of vaccine from New York State this week that it will administer to people over 65 and first responders at its Mohawk Valley Community College and Griffiss International Airport distribution sites on Jan. 28.
“There are many seniors in Oneida County who have had difficulty navigating the laborious vaccination process that has been dictated by New York State,” Picente said. “Our government has been working with those who do not have the ability to make online appointments and who have trouble with transportation or mobility, and will be making sure they are vaccinated at our county-operated sites on Thursday.”
The majority of the 500 doses allocated to Oneida County by New York State for this week will be distributed to these seniors at the county-operated site of their choosing: MVCC in Utica or the drive thru site at Griffiss in Rome. The rest of the doses will be administered to first responders and to the eligible public.
Public appointments for Jan. 28 will be posted to oneidacountyny.gov later this evening. After Thursday, county government will once again be out of vaccine supply until the state ships more, and will not be able to make any new first dose appointments.
Second dose appointments for those who received a first dose at MVCC or Griffiss will begin on Feb. 2.
