Oneida County Seeks Participation in Housing Survey
County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced today that Oneida County is seeking input from residents through an online survey that is a component of the Housing Market Inventory Assessment and Strategy study it launched last year.
The anonymous and confidential survey will go live on Oct. 1, 2024 and close end of day Oct. 14, 2024. Respondents must be primary residents of Oneida County. It can be taken here. Hard copies are also available by calling 315-798-5710.
The survey is part of the Housing Market Inventory, Assessment and Strategy study that is being conducted by the Oneida County Department of Planning through the consulting firm Urban Partners, that will allow county partner agencies, housing providers, nonprofit organizations and municipalities to develop a better understanding of the existing housing market.
With updated data and analysis, the study will define and quantify the magnitude of the housing concerns facing Oneida County, providing a quantitative estimate of its housing needs. Examining homeownership and rentals, as well as vulnerable populations in both the rural and urban areas, the study will recommend strategies and initiatives to help meet those needs. It will ultimately be used to inform planning programs and develop housing projects that meet both market demand and community priorities.
“Housing is a critical piece in preparing for the future of this community,” Picente said. “It is essential to economic and community development at all levels. It is the way we grow to attract more people and more business allowing them to thrive here in Oneida County. This holistic approach is intended to provide a global understanding and present a real strategy for strengthening our housing sector.”
