The Oneida County Youth Bureau is celebrating the success of the 2025 Youth Fun & Fitness Run, in which 70 children participated at Mohawk Valley Community College last week.

The 8th annual event took place on August 6, and once again provided county youth aged 4-13 with a unique opportunity to engage in physical activity, interact with local law enforcement cadets and participate in hands-on educational activities promoting overall health and wellness.

“This event provides an opportunity for youth to interact with the Mohawk Valley Police Academy Cadets through physical fitness while promoting good health habits,” said Oneida County Youth Bureau Director Kevin Green. “Our goal is to educate kids about valuing their health, valuing life, and making positive choices that will benefit them for years to come.”

Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. praised the program’s role in fostering healthy lifestyles among local youth.

“Instilling the values of health, fitness, and teamwork at a young age sets our children on the path to success,” Picente said. “The Youth Fun & Fitness Run is a shining example of how collaboration between county agencies, community partners, and law enforcement can create lasting positive impact in the lives of our young people.”

The event is organized by the Oneida County Youth Bureau and Health Department and is made possible through the generous support of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Law Enforcement Foundation, whose contributions—both monetary and in-kind—helped ensure its success.
