Oneida County is looking for a qualified individual for the Department of Public Works Deputy Commissioner role. 

 

This position is responsible for buildings and grounds operations, and cleaning and maintenance activities of all Oneida County facilities.

Description

An employee in this class has responsible charge of buildings and grounds operations, and cleaning and maintenance activities of all Oneida County facilities.  The work is performed under the general direction of the Commissioner of Public Works, with independent judgement in planning and carrying out details of the work.  The employee participates in decision-making regarding construction, alteration and maintenance of County facilities and has responsibility for directing and coordinating the work of a large maintenance and clerical staff.  The incumbent performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Either: 

(A) Possession of Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a closely related field, AND one (1) year of specialized experience in large-scale building maintenance activities which shall have involved supervisory responsibilities; OR

(B) Possession of Associate's Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a closely related field, AND three (3) years of specialized experience in large-scale building maintenance activities; one (1) year of which shall have involved supervisory responsibilities.

Degree(s) must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If the degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, the candidate must provide independent verification of equivalency.
