Description
Under qualified nursing supervision, a public health nurse shall plan, provide, direct, and evaluate nursing care in a variety of settings and offer instruction and guidance in health practice for individuals and families. Supervision may be exercised over others who are assigned to carry out the plans of care. The incumbent performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing AND licensure and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license at time of appointment.
License must remain valid throughout appointment.

- Degree(s) must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national,
or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of
Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If the degree was awarded by an educational institution
outside the United States and its territories, the candidate must provide independent verification of
equivalency. A list of acceptable companies who provide this service can be found on the Internet

fee.
