Raccoon Tests Positive for Rabies in City of Rome
A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in Rome. The raccoon was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on March 18, 2024 and positive results were reported on March 19, 2024. One dog was exposed to this raccoon and received a booster vaccine.

The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) announced today that it has scheduled rabies vaccination clinics through August.
Cow Tests Positive for Rabies in Lee Center
A cow has tested positive for rabies in Lee Center. The cow was sent today to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing and positive results were received. Two people were exposed to the cow and have received post exposure prophylaxis.
Oneida County Health Department Announces an Upcoming Rabies Vaccination Clinic
The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) announced today that it has scheduled a rabies vaccination clinic this month in Rome. The event will take place on March 25, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rome Kennedy Arena. Appointments are required for the clinic and can be made by calling 315-798-5064 or online at oneidacountyny.gov/rabies. A $10 donation per pet is requested to help with costs.
Oneida County Announces Car Seat Safety Events
The Oneida County Health Department announced today several car seat safety events that it will be co-hosting with the Sheriff’s Office beginning in February.
The event locations will be in various locations across the county over the next few months.
