A fox has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Verona. The fox was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on May 24, 2024 and positive results were reported on May 25, 2024. One person was exposed to this fox and received post exposure prophylaxis.

A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in Rome. The raccoon was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on March 18, 2024 and positive results were reported on March 19, 2024. One dog was exposed to this raccoon and received a booster vaccine.

The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) announced today that it has scheduled rabies vaccination clinics through August.

A cow has tested positive for rabies in Lee Center. The cow was sent today to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing and positive results were received. Two people were exposed to the cow and have received post exposure prophylaxis.

The Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) announced today that it has scheduled a rabies vaccination clinic this month in Rome. The event will take place on March 25, 2024 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Rome Kennedy Arena. Appointments are required for the clinic and can be made by calling 315-798-5064 or online at oneidacountyny.gov/rabies. A $10 donation per pet is requested to help with costs.
