A fox has tested positive for rabies in Rome. The fox was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on June 28, 2023, and positive results were reported on June 29, 2023. There were no reported human or pet exposures.

screenings will be available between 10:00 a.m. and 4 p.m. and are being offered in conjunction with the
Oneida County Health Department and Mohawk Valley Health System.
Bat Tests Positive for Rabies in Sauquoit
A bat has tested positive for rabies in Sauquoit. The bat was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on June 6, 2023 and positive results were reported on June 7, 2023. One person was exposed to the bat and received post exposure prophylaxis.
Oneida County Announces Car Seat Safety Events
The Oneida County Health Department announced new car seat safety events that will be co-hosted with the Sheriff’s Office. The event locations have expanded across the county over the next two months. New car seat events will take place at the following locations: Clark Mills Fire Department, 7700 Main Street, Clark Mills on June 14th from 10 a.m. to noon and Camden Life Center, 20 Main Street, Camden on July 17th from 10 a.m. to noon.

A skunk has tested positive for rabies in the Village of Boonville. The skunk was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on April 24, 2023 and positive results were reported on April 25, 2023. At this time, there were no reported exposures. This skunk was captured on April 21, 2023 in the Village Square in Boonville.
