Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr. announced today that the 16th Annual Oneida County Intergenerational Fall Clean-Up saw 546 youth volunteers service the homes of 100 seniors citizens.

“The Intergenerational Clean-Up is a great example of the kind of community spirit that makes Oneida County special," Picente said. "These young people are stepping up to help our seniors, showing respect for the generations who came before them and making a real difference in their neighbors’ lives. I thank every volunteer, mentor and community partner who helped make this year’s effort such a success.”

The 16th Annual Intergenerational Fall Clean-Up was a collaboration between the Oneida County Youth Bureau, the Oneida County Office for the Aging and Continuing Care and local colleges, school districts and youth organizations. Volunteers raked and collected leaves, swept porches, sidewalks and driveways and brought light refuse to the curb at the homes of seniors throughout the county.

Volunteers participated from Utica University baseball, cross country, track & field, field hockey, Chi Beta Sigma sorority, Young Scholar and Organization of Justice Studies; Mohawk Valley Community College softball, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and Society of Engineering Technology Club; New Hartford High School varsity soccer, junior varsity football and National Honor Society; T.R. Proctor High School Key Club, Art Club and Skills USA; Notre Dame High School National Honor Society and Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps; Camden High School athletics; Oriskany High School Key Club; Clinton Middle School National Junior Honor Society and Middle School Student Council; Remsen High School National Honor Society; Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School Interact Club; New York Mills High School Student Council; Whitesboro Middle School; Sauquoit Valley School High School National Honor Society; Utica Academy of Science Charter School; St. Elizabeth College of Nursing; Safe Schools Mohawk Valley; Boy Scouts Troop 11; Tabernacle Baptist Church; ICAN and CNY FC.

“With the outpouring of support given by our youth and the supportive number of youth volunteers represented these kids see the big picture,” said Director of the Youth Bureau Kevin Green. "Compassion for those in need, caring enough to do the work, and bringing joy to others are three characteristics these 546 youth volunteers brought to Oneida Counties senior citizen population.”

The 2026 Fall Clean-Up took place Oct. 17-18.

During the Intergenerational Spring Clean-Up this past April, 425 youth volunteers serviced the homes of 100 senior citizens throughout the county.

The 2027 Intergenerational Spring Clean-Up is scheduled for April 18-19 and the 2027 Intergenerational Fall Clean-Up is scheduled for October 16-17.
